After the dust settles from their fiercest confrontation, D'Compose finds himself locked away in a fresh amber casing, while Tendril is hauled off to a Granite prison. Magnokor finally manages to shut down Metlar for good, and Blackthorne gets taken into Earth Corps custody. Senator Masterson gifts the team a shiny new base of operations, but there's a problem—the tissue sample they took from Tendril way back in their first fight has vanished without a trace.
