A beach volleyball contest offers a 3D television as its grand prize, prompting Ika and Eiko to join forces. They battle their way to the finals, where they face Gorō's team. At match point, Eiko sprains her ankle, and Chizuru steps in to secure the victory. Shortly after, Ika's tentacles and squid powers mysteriously fail. Friends try every remedy without success. Though they suggest she might return to the sea, her absence leaves everyone lonely. Ika eventually reappears with her tentacles severed, resigned to life as an ordinary girl. Takeru insists this isn't her true self. As she mourns on the beach, a girl named Kozue Tanabe reassures her that not all humans are cruel, and she isn't alone.
