Victory at Sea
S01E17 THE TURKEY SHOOT: Conquest of the Marianas
A few days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Japan launches an invasion of Guam, a U.S. territory, leading to a two-and-a-half-year occupation. The American forces eventually reclaim Guam and Saipan, culminating in a decisive victory that decimates the Japanese fleet in what is famously known as a "turkey shoot." The joy of the Guamanian people is evident as they express their gratitude with smiles, creating one of the most uplifting moments in Victory at Sea. Meanwhile, American troops are busy establishing bases across the Marianas in preparation for a major bombing campaign against Japan.
