During the clash at Qala-i-Jangi, captured fighters launched a sudden revolt. In the chaos, one CIA operative lost his life, while another stepped up and turned the tide, helping to restore order. American forces ultimately regained command of the fortress and took John Walker Lindh, the U.S. citizen who had joined the Taliban, into custody.
