The veterinary clinic at Chevin Chase is alive with activity as preparations for the wedding unfold. Anna, who is eight months pregnant, is in charge of the arrangements but starts to feel anxious as time slips away and her father, George, the groom, is still busy with surgery on a puppy. Meanwhile, Sarah breaks free from her unfaithful boyfriend David and drives back home. The church is filled to capacity, while Practice Manager Deborah is busy making snide comments about everyone to her husband Rick, the Senior Partner. He steps outside for a quick smoke with nurse Matt during a pause in her chatter. Nurses Clare and Margaret share gossip about the guests and discuss Sarah’s return, which is a surprise since she hasn't been home since their mother passed two years ago. Unknown to Anna, Sarah is carrying a heavy secret—she witnessed Anna's husband Tom in bed with nurse Fiona, making her unable to face them. Just as Sarah arrives at the church, Fiona takes a seat, but the focus shifts
