The demise of Burgundy's wealthy ruler triggers a perilous situation. Lacking male heirs, the striking and intelligent Maria, his daughter, must find a husband quickly. Meanwhile, Emperor Friedrich is in dire need of funds to support his campaign against Hungary, prompting him to arrange for his son Maximilian to propose to Maria.
