Bill Nye the Science Guy
S03E04 Rocks & Soil
Our planet rests upon layers of rock, which can be classified into three primary categories: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks originate from the cooling of lava, while sedimentary rocks are formed from the compression of fragments of other rocks. Metamorphic rocks arise from existing rocks that undergo heat, pressure, or both. As the Earth's surface transforms, rocks can transition from one type to another, a process that requires specific conditions and significant time to occur.
