Yunishigawa, a hot spring resort, has ties to a significant event from the 12th century. After their defeat in the Battle of Dan-no-Ura, a band of Heike samurai took refuge in the remote mountains of what is now Tochigi Prefecture, discovering a natural hot spring there. In the series Journeys in Japan, model and reporter Akane Nakajima explores the village, eager to connect with the samurai spirit. Her interest in martial arts leads her to engage with the descendants of the Heike, seeking to understand their heritage and experiences.
