Feeling stuck in her current routine, Naomi decides to shake things up and comes home with the announcement that she's enrolled in a flight attendant training program after spotting an ad in the paper. Vint is taken aback and frustrated since she didn’t consult him beforehand. Meanwhile, Bubba joins the debate team just to be close to a girl he likes. Naomi excels in her first exam, which only heightens Vint's frustration. As tension rises between them, Iola seizes the moment and invites Vint out for ice cream. While Vint sees it as a casual outing, Mama senses Iola's intentions and warns him about her motives. That evening, as Naomi seeks the family's support to prepare for a crucial test, only Mama steps up to help her.
