Excited by a friend's poetry anthology, Takuboku starts to doubt his own abilities. Kyousuke attempts to lift his spirits, but when he learns that Takuboku had discussions about someone purchasing Oen, a local prostitute, he can’t hide his anger. Meanwhile, at the milk hall, Yoshii, Sakutarou, and Bokusui participate in a poetry competition, with Nomura acting as the referee, all in hopes of winning the chance to express their feelings to Kiku, the waitress.
