During a business trip to Sunville for the Ponderosa, Hoss and Candy cross paths with the town's flamboyant storyteller, Salty, who has a knack for embellishing his narratives. Mistaking them for notorious outlaws Big Jack and Sid, Salty refuses to believe their true identities. In a bid to prove themselves, Hoss and Candy enlist Salty's help to stage a fake gunfight that results in "Big Jack's" demise. Meanwhile, the real Big Jack and Sid are in town, plotting to exploit the chaos created by the ruse to execute a bank robbery.
