Detective Jane Rizzoli teams up with medical examiner Maura Isles to delve into the brutal slaying of a rich couple. The crime scene bears the hallmarks of a notorious serial killer called the Surgeon, who nearly claimed Jane's life in the past. With the Surgeon imprisoned, it appears that one of his apprentices is now mimicking his deadly methods.
