The ailing Master of Porterhouse passes away due to a Porterhouse Blue—a stroke caused by his excessive lifestyle. His successor, Sir Godber Evans, an alumnus of Porterhouse, a former grammar school student, and a failed politician, seizes the opportunity of the annual grand feast to declare a significant departure from six centuries of tradition: Porterhouse will now welcome scholars!
