Early Winter

Ferhat, a 49-year-old factory manager in Istanbul, and his wife Handan, a 45-year-old bank manager, choose to have a child through surrogacy with Lia, a 28-year-old artist of Georgian and Ukrainian heritage. Soon after their daughter Ada turns one, war erupts between Russia and Ukraine. The conflict forces Lia to remain in Istanbul with Ferhat and Handan longer than planned. Convinced that surrogacy is her ticket to Europe, Lia refuses to part with Ada.
