Kathleen Kennedy
Kathleen Kennedy, born on June 5, 1953, is a prominent American film producer renowned for her leadership at Lucasfilm, a position she has held since 2012. Kennedy's illustrious career in the film industry began in 1981 when she co-founded Amblin Entertainment alongside legendary director Steven Spielberg and her future husband, Frank Marshall. Her initial venture as a producer came with the iconic film E.T. (1982), which set the stage for her subsequent successes.
In the 1990s, Kennedy played a pivotal role in producing the Jurassic Park franchise, which included two of the highest-grossing films of that decade. In 1992, she and Marshall established The Kennedy/Marshall Company, further solidifying their impact on Hollywood. Following the acquisition of Lucasfilm by The Walt Disney Company, Kennedy assumed the presidency and has since been instrumental in the creation of major projects. Under her guidance, the Star Wars sequel trilogy (2015-2019), standalone films like Rogue One (2016) and Solo (2018), and the fifth Indiana Jones film, The Dial of Destiny (2023), have come to fruition.
Kennedy's influence extends to numerous Star Wars series on Disney+, including The Mandalorian (2019-present) and Ahsoka (2023-present). Her produced films have grossed over $11 billion globally, with five ranking among the top fifty highest-grossing movies of all time, earning her eight Academy Award nominations for Best Picture.
