Kevin O'Connor
Kevin O’Connor is a prominent American television figure renowned for his role as the host of the beloved PBS home renovation series, This Old House, a position he has held since 2003. Hailing from Maplewood, New Jersey, O'Connor's early exposure to construction came from his father, a civil engineer, which ignited his passion for home improvement. After completing his education at Saint Benedict’s Preparatory School, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in history from the College of the Holy Cross, followed by an MBA from Boston University.
Before venturing into television, O'Connor had a successful career in finance, where he occupied senior roles at Fleet Bank and Bank of America. His entry into the television world was serendipitous; a letter from him and his wife prompted a visit from the crew of This Old House for a segment on Ask This Old House. His enthusiasm and inquisitive nature caught the attention of producers, leading to his appointment as the show's host after Steve Thomas stepped down, making him the third host in the show's extensive history.
In addition to his hosting duties on This Old House, Ask This Old House, and Inside This Old House, O'Connor actively contributes to This Old House Magazine's editorial board and authored the book, “The Best Homes from This Old House.” Residing in Massachusetts with his family, he continues to inspire viewers with his dedication to craftsmanship and home improvement.
