Necdet Yakın
**Necdet Yakın (1932–2016)**
Born in Bulgaria in 1932, Necdet Yakın became a cherished figure in Turkish theater and cinema. His artistic journey began in 1958 at Istanbul Technical University, where he first stepped onto the stage. He honed his craft under Haldun Dormen at Cep Tiyatrosu, and in 1960, with the support of Zihni Küçümen and Nüvit Özdoğru, he joined the prestigious Istanbul City Theaters. He remained with the company long after his official retirement in 1997.
Yakın entered the film world in 1962, appearing in numerous productions. His later years included a role in the movie *Balalaika*. Known for his thoughtful approach to comedy, he once remarked, “In Turkish cinema, humor is often placed more on the person than the situation. I don’t find this true. The situation should be funny, and the actor should support it.”
He passed away on September 20, 2016, in Istanbul, leaving behind a legacy of disciplined artistry and quiet integrity on both stage and screen.
