Kyōko Enami (江波 杏子, Enami Kyōko) was a prominent Japanese actress known for her significant contributions to film and television. Born into a family of performers, she was the daughter of acclaimed actress Kazuko Enami. Her career began when she joined Daiei Film studio in 1959, and she made her film debut the following year with "Ashita kara otona da." Enami truly found her footing with her breakout role as Noboriryū no Ogin in the successful film "Onna no toba" (1966), which led to the creation of the popular Woman Gambler series, comprising an impressive 17 films.

Beyond her notable performances in gambling-themed narratives, Enami showcased her versatility through serious roles. Her remarkable talent earned her critical acclaim, culminating in a Best Actress award from Kinema Junpo for her performance in "Tsugaru Jongarabushi" (1973).

Kyōko Enami's career spanned several decades, during which she left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry. Tragically, her life came to an unexpected end on October 27, 2018, at a Tokyo hospital due to pulmonary emphysema, just five days after participating in a radio drama. Her legacy, however, continues to resonate through her extensive body of work and the impact she had on Japanese cinema.
