Ondřej Trojan

Ondřej Trojan, born on December 31, 1959, in Prague, is a prominent figure in Czech cinema and theater, known for his work as an actor, director, and producer. Coming from a family steeped in the arts, with his father, Ladislav Trojan, and younger brother, Ivan, both being actors, Ondřej pursued his passion for film and theater at the prestigious FAMU, graduating in 1991.

Trojan made his directorial debut with the film *Let's Sing a Song*, crafted by the talented screenwriters Jan Hřebejko and Petr Jarchovský. His second film, *Želary*, adapted from Květa Legátová's short story *Jozova Hanula*, became a major success, earning eleven nominations for the Czech Lion Award and even receiving an Oscar nomination from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2010, he took on the roles of director and producer for *Identity Card*, followed by the release of his fourth film, *Toman*, in 2018.

In addition to his film work, Trojan is deeply involved in theater, particularly with the acclaimed Prague Theater Sklep, where he directs and performs. He co-founded the production company Total HelpArt T.H.A. with Tomáš Hanák and Jiří Fero Burda.

Trojan's television contributions include directing a notable adaptation of Václav Havel and Karel Brynda's play *Life Before Himself*. He has also appeared in various films, such as *Journey from the City*, *Elf*, and *Farm Manager*, and has collaborated extensively with director Jan Hřebejk on numerous acclaimed projects like *Pelíšky* and *Beauty in Trouble*.
